Reframe Your Pain with PRT & ART

Pain Reprocessing Therapy (PRT) combined with Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART) offers an innovative approach to treating chronic pain and somatic symptoms by addressing the brain’s role in pain perception and emotional processing. Both therapies focus on helping individuals reframe and reprocess the experience of pain, ultimately aiming to reduce its intensity and impact on daily life.

The primary goal of Pain Reprocessing Therapy is to retrain the brain’s interpretation of pain signals. Chronic pain often persists not because of ongoing tissue damage, but due to the brain misinterpreting normal sensations as harmful. PRT helps individuals recognize that these pain signals may be misleading, thereby reducing fear, anxiety, and avoidance behaviors that can worsen pain over time. By re-evaluating painful sensations, clients learn to shift their relationship with pain, allowing the nervous system to calm and symptoms to diminish. While pain reduction is a common and beneficial outcome, the true focus of PRT lies in altering the meaning and experience of pain itself rather than simply curing it.

What is ART?

Accelerated Resolution Therapy complements this process by focusing on the emotional and somatic memories tied to pain. Using guided imagery and specific eye movement techniques, ART helps clients process distressing memories and somatic experiences that contribute to their pain and anxiety. This reprocessing reduces the emotional charge of painful memories and physical symptoms, supporting greater healing and resilience.

How do PRT & ART Work?

Together, PRT and ART create a comprehensive mind-body approach. Therapists facilitate active engagement with the client’s pain experience through cognitive and somatic techniques that challenge unhelpful thought patterns and encourage healthier interpretations. This combined approach empowers individuals to regain control over their pain, improve emotional regulation, and enhance overall quality of life.

Limited in-person appointments are currently available for those interested in this cutting-edge treatment. Additionally, we are offering a future group program consisting of four sessions designed to introduce and guide participants through the principles of both PRT and ART. This group is an excellent opportunity to learn and practice these modalities in a supportive setting.
